For over 40 years, KNDS Optronics has been designing, manufacturing and marketing embedded optomechanical and optronic systems for land defense industries. It now wishes to offer the civilian markets its know-how applicable to the fields of transport or monitoring in demanding environments.
Episcopes with day and night vision capability, video episcopes, weapon sights, goggles, Local Situational Awareness Systems, shielded or special lenses resistant to extreme operating conditions are all technologies mastered by KNDS Optronics.
The company possesses know-how acquired in a military context. Its products equip LECLERC MBTs, VBCI and ARAVIS® in external operations. KNDS Optronics has developed wide-ranging expertise in the design and creation of high-precision and high-tech optical, optomechanical and optronic system components. KNDS Optronics is a recognized player in medium and large optics.
Its "Defense" expertise has various applications in the civilian sector. Building on the skills acquired in the hardening of equipment required by the military context, KNDS Optronics applies the same quality criteria to manufacture digital vision solutions such as perimeter vision systems for vehicles. These new products also benefit from the Optics and Imaging scientific and technical environment of the Saint-Etienne Optics and Vision cluster as well as from the Rhône-Alpes Optics cluster, which favors the addition of innovative technologies to serve our customers in France and abroad.
Heir to the optics division of Giat Industries, established in St-Etienne since 1967, KNDS Optronics has the history, plans and technical skills required to modernize optical or optronic equipment on all types of legacy or current vehicles and thus extend their life span.
